Release Notes
NoteOwing to ICP filing requirements, not every app shown here is available on the App Store’s China mainland storefront. What’s new in each of my apps.
Optional
- Lighter on your Mac. Optional uses almost no energy or memory in the background, including after you’ve had Settings open.
- Out of your way. Pointer movement and scrolling pass through Optional only while you hold the trigger key, and wheels open without waiting for a busy app.
- Smarter Compress and Rotate. Compress never leaves a copy that isn’t smaller, and Rotate works for black-and-white images too.
- Polish. Settings banners keep their titles on one line, ignored password managers show their names, undo messages read naturally, and the Chinese interface uses the current wording everywhere.
Pumpkin Lights
- Easy on your battery: once a lamp stops moving it stops drawing altogether, and the candle flickers on its own. Pumpkin Lights now uses next to no power while you're not playing with it — before, it kept working 120 times a second.
- Feel the pull: on a Force Touch trackpad, pulling a lamp's cord gives a little click as it switches.
- Keep the Mac awake, done right: it carries on after a restart or login, turns off when you take that lamp down, and if the app ever quits unexpectedly, your Mac can still go to sleep.
- Mute follows your Mac: a mute lamp goes on and off with the mute key and Control Center.
- Clear when Dark Mode is blocked: if macOS isn't letting Pumpkin Lights switch the appearance, it tells you where to allow it, instead of lighting up while nothing changes.
- Out of your way: lamps stay out of full-screen apps, never hide under the camera notch, and no longer duck away from brightness boosters or screen-sharing overlays.
- Lighter on disk: old pumpkin images are cleared out (the cache could grow past 200 MB), plus small fixes in Settings and the welcome window.
Window Flow
- Wheel: each window’s app icon now rides on the dial, turning with its window. Wheel is now second in the list.
- Settings: the flow choice is a new glass control, like the backgrounds above it.
- Hiding or quitting an app from the flow: the other windows now close up smoothly, with no flicker.
Archer’s Five
- Crest is easier to read: like Wordle, every band of a guess now gets its own mark: a green check for the right spot, yellow arrows for a color that's elsewhere on the arrow, and a gray cross for one that isn't there. Fewer guesses, faster rounds.
- Game Center now signs in reliably, posts your course scores and trophies, and shows a Game Center button on the home screen, even before you've signed in.
- Five Arrows: the sight now allows for distance, the wind tells you how many rings it will push, and a stray tap no longer shoots.
- A clearer Statistics page, switches you can see in dark mode, and many small touches throughout.
Archer’s Toolbox
- Fixed: choosing System in Settings → Appearance now follows your iPhone again after picking Light or Dark, including while Settings is open.
- Small polish throughout.
